Education has shaped every chapter of my career.
My career has taken me from classrooms and research offices to executive leadership, consulting, growth strategy, and institution-wide change. Across those roles, I have spent my time helping education organizations answer hard questions, build stronger ideas, align people around decisions, and turn ambitious plans into work that can actually be carried out.
I founded Leverage Education because too many important initiatives stall between the idea and the implementation. Organizations may know the outcome they want, but the strategy is unclear, the operating model has not caught up, the funding is disconnected from the plan, or the people closest to the work have not been brought into the process.
Leverage Education works in that space. We help organizations make sense of complexity, design the work, build the case for it, and create the structure required to move forward.
Experience from inside the work
My background spans faculty, research and planning, growth strategy, online education, executive leadership, and consulting. I have worked across community colleges, private universities, public research universities, education technology, K-12-adjacent organizations, and nonprofits. That range matters because the problems our clients bring us rarely stay neatly inside one function.
A practitioner network built around each engagement
Leverage Education draws on a trusted network of experienced practitioners and subject-matter experts when an engagement requires additional depth. That network includes current and former teachers, school administrators, higher-education leaders, facilitators, researchers, and specialists who understand the work from the inside.
Our K-12 perspective is informed by practitioners who have served as classroom teachers, deans, assistant principals, and principals. We assemble the right expertise for the needs of each engagement.
This model gives clients a small, senior-level team that can think deeply, move quickly, and bring the right expertise to the work.
Maya Evans, Ph.D.
Founder & Principal Consultant
Maya is an education strategist, facilitator, researcher, and executive leader whose work focuses on institutional strategy, growth, adult learners, workforce and pathway development, organizational design, implementation, and funding strategy. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a B.A. in Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis.
